Gents,

I've picked up a TBI 454 and complete harness & computer from a '93 C3500 to replace the TBI 350 from my 1990 Jimmy. Flywheel and TV cable issues have been addressed, but my next question is the wiring harness - can I use my original harness (after changing the terminals for at least one temp sender), or do I need to put in the 454 harness?

Just realized that the 1993 harness that came with the 454 is set up to enter the firewall on the opposite side from the original harness. . . the original wires are all in good shape, so I'd rather use the setup that's in there now.

Hints, tips, and even laughter are all appreciated!

Yup, use the one in there! What ECM number was on the new harness? If you sell it give me a PM.

TPS is probably differant and BB to SB has 2 wires changed. Other than that it's almost plug and run. You will need a chip for BB in your origanal ECM.

The extra temp sensor your refering to is probably a IAT (Incoming Air Temp) goes into intake manifold or air intake system. It is the same plug as Water Temp Sensor. Water temp sensor works exactly the same and can be used for IAT. Response time is a little slower but price is way cheaper.

Thanks for the assist - I'll let you know as soon as I'm sure that everything's hooked up on the original harness. I think you stopped me just before I made this project way more complicated than it had to be.

I'll do a search for member's choices of chip suppliers.

I always start with an AZFT.bin chip. Probably find an ECM with it cheaper than a chip wish I had not erased all my old chips or I would have had one. I stopped using then to reburn and solder in a socket and use flash chip. But if your motor is stock and all things are hooked up all you need is a stock chip. HTH!
