I have a 5.7 1990 K5. The white wire coming off of the gray connector on the ignition coil goes to nothing..idk if something that should be hot with the ignition maybe went here but it goes into a house electrical cap and another wire that I just taped off and tucked away where it cant ground.

The ecm harness ground has a black with white stripe wire spliced into it with a t clamp type thing the wire at the end is going into a ground and the other end looks like it follows into the stock harness. The ground has 2 wires going into it the other being tan, also going into the harness looking stock.

Ground coming out of harness near A/C box looks like it was ripped off during engine swap. Exact location where I should put a replacement ground?

Is this the cruise control module? Its just hanging here near the pedal and the other connector going into it was hacked apart and in the glove box. Okay if I remove it?

I have this connector above the transfer case/ transmission just hanging not plugged into anything.

I have this connector going into the driveshaft housing, doesnt look stock by the way its twinned and spun together.

Trailer connector corroding. Where can I buy a replacement and hopefully the replacement comes with a cap so I can prevent this from happening again.

Should my Fuel pump relay have a pigtail coming out of it? If so purpose?

Should my truck have a fuel pump test connector next to the ALDL? I have a connector close to where the Computer Command Controlled component locations diagrams says with a resistor/ diode coming out of it kinda like connectors for some GM compressors.

the car has no radio and as far as I know no speakers. Where were the stock speakers located on in this truck besides in the dash corners?

lastly not sure if this has anything to do with these issues but when I start the truck sometimes it sounds like im getting a arcing sound.

If I had a proper wiring diagram in this chiltons I would be able to figure this myself but they arent very specific :doah:

Red pigtail from the fuel pump relay.
-It is supposed to be there, just a test point

Trailer connector
-WalMart, will come with cap

Connector coming from driveshaft housing
-Looks like the speedo

thanks, my speedo doesnt work.

I think the white box hanging by the pedal is your DRAC box which controls your speedo. Don't remove.

The plug and two wires coming up from the T-case are for your speedo, cruise and ECM pulse, which goes to this box, too. Your ECM needs to know how fast you are going or it won't run right. The two wires are intentionally twisted together to keep the signal from picking up electrical interference.

thanks man. Which "plug" are you referring to, Do you mean the connector?

Now I know why my speedo doesnt work. Could you help me find were I should wire replacement wires to properly complete this circuit?

Any idea on the unplugged connector near the transfer case?

My heat barely works this is probably the cause. Can you describe to me where I should put a replacement ground?

Here is a write-up I did on converting my 89' to the 90-91 electronic speedo (your setup). The purple and "other" color twisted is for your speedo. There should be some good info in there for you.....

The other plug may be for your 4WD light indicator. If you put the truck in 4WD do you have a "4-wheel" light show up in your dash cluster? If not, this may be the reason. The receiving end is a little hard to reach and I think it's more on top of the T-case (between the case and the body).

I think the black wire near the heater motor just needs a new solderless connector and then attached to one of the top screws on the heater motor.

I don't have any good pics but maybe this will help....

You can barely see the black wire that connects to the top bolt...

thanks for the thread man ill definitely read and get to the bottom of this. As for the harness ground wire it does not go to that top bolt because the wire there is going to a ground on the firewall directly above the blower motor. No my 4x4 light does not come on guess I know why. The transfer case is out of a 89, is it possible 89s didnt offer this option?

I just skim read your thread and my tcase is out of the 89 so id have to switch the housing over to the 90. Guess I see why the p/o hillbilly raged and mutilated the wiring.

Yea, hopefully that thread can help you sort through things. The 89' Tcase will be cable driven and the 90-91 is the electric one. My daughter had the truck now so I'll check on that heater ground when she gets home....

thank you so much jeff for going out of your way to answer my questions your a big help. I dont think ill be fixing my speedo for a while now that this is the case. Other simple maintenance to attend to for my daily. GPS is speedo for now. I wish the p/o had just swapped the seized motor and left the power train ughh. Didnt even save any of the parts. I can buy a 90 tcase though I have a link.

Junkyards are your friend....you can fix this truck a lot cheaper than other vehicles. Once you get your speeds fixed, it will also help your engine run better. It needs that pulse.

Yea just checked the add I can get the transfer case for $150 but its a travel.

All you really need is the tailshaft and the toning ring off of a 90-91 if your existing Tcase is good. Just an idea for you.

Here is a pic of my heater box ground wire:

Thanks so much dude now I just gotta go buy repair ground.

dude your ground looks like its been repaired before too. I bought the same blue crimp ground from advanced auto. I was at my trans am club meet today and mentioned the ignition coil he said the grey connectors white wire should go to my tach. Car doesnt have a tach but I wouldnt be surprised if it had something to do with the wire cut out of the hanging box under my dash from when they switched transfer cases.

Yea, the heater box is all plastic so the motor needs a ground. Pretty simple. I actually do have a tach and I think I used that as a source but don't recall exactly......it's been awhile. I don't know if it goes to the DRAC box hanging down near the pedal or not though.

I did not see the response for the white wire comming from the coil. It is a tach sending unit. If you add a tach, wire goes there.

yea however, this is a stock harness wire. If a tach goes to it how did this connector leave the factory?
