wiring/marker/bright light problems... Help me fix!

hey.

so my passenger side marker light issue is as follows:

when the headlights are not on, my blinkers work fine except that on the passenger side the dimmer element is the one that blinks. when my headlights are on, my passenger side blinker does not blink. when i turn the blinker on, it turns those lamps off altogether - but no blink. So, i manually blink and the lights simply shut off instead of getting brighter every time i want it to blink.

to add to this, when i turn my headlights on the brights are on too. if i hit the brights switch, they get marginally brighter. so i always have 4 headlights on... i feel bad for the people in front of me on the highway.

anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like either your headlight switch or turn signal switch is bad

checked the cab/front clip ground straps?

ok, here's a new twist. i put in a new light bulb into the front marker light and somehow that caused the blinker to start working for that side. it was the brighter element, but between flashes it simply shut off - like before except that it was blinking on it's own. then i turned on the driver's blinker and it won't shut off!! even when i took the key out of the ignition it still blinked. i had to pull the silver cannister to get it to turn off.

oh, by the way, it's only the front blinkers that won't turn off. the rear blinker only works when asked.
