i went and put aftermarket gauges in. just those cheepo 3 pack, oil, water, and amp gauges from napa. i wired them up and im kinda questioning i did it right, i ran the wires for the lights all together and hooked them into the power wire that runs my kc light switch, which then runs thru a relay and a fuse, then to the battery. any possibility that the 3 inst bulbs in the gauges could cause the fuse to blow or cause the wires to over heat? and then when running my amp wires down to the starter i was wondering what size fuse should i put on it? i was just gonna put a in-line fuse and it comes with a 25 amp fuse already in it, and should i put a fuse on both sides? one going to the starter and one leaving the starter? sorry so long but any help would be great.

im no expert on this but i just got a question? what about the existing wires from the old setup? why did you not run the new ones into them? and i think that could toast your wires unless the relay for you kcs were more then adequent too handle the kcs plus the gauges?

for the amp wiring, my existing idiot light is a volt light, and im wiring up a amp gauge, so i had to run new wiring. and i dont know if the relay is up to it, im trying to figure out if the relay can handle those low amp bulbs im thinking i wont have a problem, the only time i think i may have a problem is if i have the kc's on when the headlights are on...............oh wait i think i just screwed up i have to double check but i think i wired into the tach light wire which is hooked to my headlight switch, because im thinking if i have them wired to the kc's they will either be on all the time or on when the
switch is on :doah: i think i screwed up

ya it sounds like every time you want your new dash gauges lit so does your kcs? and im thinkin your not supposed too run those in inner city streets. i got pulled over once just cause they werent covered!

The backlights for the gauges should not draw much current. I'm wondering why you wired them to headlights (most of all off-road only headlights) instead of connecting them to the dash lights? Did your ammeter come with an external shunt or do you have to run all of the measured current through the gauge itself?

i wasent thinking when i wired to my kc's i was thinking they need power and i have a hot wire right there for me to tap into not thinking that the second i turn the key on the gauges will light up even in daytime. i will hook them into my dash lights. as for the amp gauge it was a simple one wire in one wire out nothing else
