So I've got most of my harness made up for my fogs(nice and clean too :D), now I just need a switched source to power the relay. Ideally I'd like to have them turn on when the parking lights are on(as well as highs and lows), but I don't know where to begin.

Any ideas? I guess what I am saying is.. I don't want to chop into my stock harness too much.

You can tap off the wire for the parking lights on the headlight switch. I don't remember the color wire though.

you could hook to the power on your low beam and when they turn on then your fog lamps will also. im not sure how you could switch them on and off i know there is a way though

I don't need to switch them off if the headlights are on... I just want them to be on with the park lights, lows, and highs.

i would wire them to the power on the low beam or find the power for all the lights. that might work. i have only done it to the low beam though

why not just splice them into the marker lights? seems easy enough.

Would my fogs blink then? :haha: Or since I'm just using the marker lights to power the relay would it be okay. The main power source will be the battery, I just figured it would be better for ease of use to have the fogs switched to the headlights. They are handy to have when a thick snow is coming down.. click the head lights off and run just the parking lights and fogs, no back scatter :D

woops! didn't think of that. are the marker lights on yours a dual filament? i can't remember. if they're dual filament, then you could wire it to the power that's always on, and leave the other blinker one alone.

i think the side marker lights are single filament, so they wouldn't work. but i bet the front blinkers are a dual set up, and that might work out nicely.

They should be dual filament in the front marker/turn signal lights. You could tap the marker wire to initialize the relay when you turn on any lights. That would be the simplest way to do what you are wanting here, also what I plan on doing when I do the headlight relay mod in a week or so.

I thought about doing the relay mod but on this truck(my 91) everything is too nice and clean to hack up the wiring, and my lights are fairly bright. I figure I'll add the fogs and then some driving lights and call it good.

Nothing wrong with that thinking, mine is much older and the lights are weak. Mine will initially be used only with the low beams, but some fog lamps in the future will be wired as you are thinking.
