Ok I know I have to search a bit on ramseys site..
I currently have the wireless kit for my winch.. Ramsey Patriot 15000
however I would like to have a switch in the cab to operate it too...
I have the switch...

2 red ones are actually momentary (non light)
I want to hook my winch to one of them.. in the future if I ever get a winch up front I have the switch for it...

so how does one wire these things?

Gotta love that Contura stuff...

yeah im gonna redo this but for now it has to sit there....

oh yeah im going to take my wiper switch out of the dash and mount the msd timing control unit there.. since I converted to a newer column.. wipers are on the column I dont need that switch anymore...

the wire organizers for them are sweet too!!!!!
look how clean that looks.. even with wire loom and loom accessories!!!

my goal is to redo that part...
going to get a ac vented gauge cover and make a metal plate and bolt it to the cab so it wont come off... no need to be able to come off..

but im gonna remove the ac vents.. and on the upper right vent.. bolt a piece of metal and mount those puppies in there.... right now I have the crappy hole in the cover for stuff that wont stay there..

my crappy mspaint chop... :haha:

That should work nice....

As you know I'm a huge fan of Carling's stuff and may have very well been the one to introduce them to the forum... Believe me, I've seen them under the worst conditions...

Still wish they had a few more lense colors available...

You've seen my stuff 100 times but here's how I'm gonna run mine... The left bank of 5 is wipers, interior lights, fans, headlights, beams..

the hole where the heater was is going to be a parallel switch, OR lights, heat and 2 for a winch...

Do you run a tach?

ah yeah, cool..

Thats a nice option......

Hey, you wouldn't happen to know a BIG dude with BIG trucks that runs around down that way named JD, would ya? He's a carpet installer...

I need a carpet guy to re-install my carpet after my basement flooded....

njfourwheelers.com is down so cant even post over their... wish I could though....

So here's what you can look for. I haven't done one but the theory should be the same. Find where your wireless remote hooks up to your winch control box. It's going to be a switch, most likely a solenoid. You are looking for 3 wires to use. Power, Forward, & Reverse. A continuity and/or voltage meter will help out a lot here. First find power. Take your voltage meter and connect one end to a good ground. The other end touch to each connection until you read 12v. Often the hot power wire is red. Check all the connections as only one should be hot or have constant power.

After you have found power take necessary precautions to run your winch, I.E. run the cable out enough and in a manner you don't have to watch it while doing the next steps, run your winch in forward or reverse and check power to the connections, other than the one you have identified as power, and find which one is hot. There should only be one but be sure to check them all. Make a note of the wire and which direction the winch is running. Now run your winch in the opposite direction and find your third wire.

The next step is to disconnect the battery to complete your wiring. Use wires the same gauge, or one size larger. If you can use the same 3 colors it's a good idea. Route the 3 wires to the back of your switch panel. Consider using an inline fuse on your power wire here. If you are using a 3 position switch you'll only use the 3 wires. If you have 2 switches you can just split or "Y" the power. Hook up your switch(s) reconnect the battery and test.

Install instructions will probably help out a lot, I'm sure you can download them from Ramsey's site.

That's basically it. It might help to think of electricity like water in a pipe. It has to travel from the battery to a switch (valve) which directs it to where you need it and the excess needs to go back into the battery.

I was overcomplicating things... I took the coil pack cover off.. .there was red, yellow and green...
so easy.. I cut into the wires, butt connected in other wires... and shrink tubed the wires....
so now I have 3 wires hanging out so I could run them later.. needed to bolt the winch down...
now I have the winch bolted down and wired to my dual batteries in the bed... finally done...
I wanted to do the switch because it seems the wireless kit is not always reliable.... right now the wireless will winch out but not in.. you can hear the coils click but that is it... connect a switch and works fine.. so dunno on that...
I have to bolt the rear bumper on and install my msd stuff.. then time to get the truck out back to the trails!!!!!!
