This is my 1991 GMC Jimmy bone stock with 67,000 miles. Im installing a 3" tuff country ez ride lift this weekend and all that goes with it, followed by 33x13.50x15 tires and custom wheels (being made now) and dog dish hubcaps . Still has original shocks so nothing has been touched in 20 years...wish me luck on the install this weekend :waytogo:

And all of these are new parts etc cluttering up my garage

good luck 88......hope you soaked those bolts with some penetrating crap for a day or so before. looking forward to the progress picures. what shocks did you end up going with?

Would you include some more photos of the lift kit and what is included with it. IT would be great to get your experience. I'm planning the same thing also.

Thanks guys, I went with plain 15x8 stock hubcap steel wheels, should be ready next week. I got the TC 3" kit with the TC sx8000 nitro shocks, I hope they ride good. The stabilizer is just a single skyjacker HD shock. I also got the skyjacker stainless brake lines for 3-4' lift and trailmaster swaybar drop kit. I bought a steering arm too but Im gonna wait and see the angle before installing.

All bolts/nuts etc were sprayed in liquid wrench yesterday and I think Im gonna hit them again tonight.

I will take pics of the parts when I get them laid out on the table tommorrow.

As clean as that thing is, I don't think it will give you much trouble. Sweet rig, can't wait to hear ride impressions.

I did the steel wheel thing too. Looks good on 33's :waytogo:
Can't wait to see those Toyo's on steelies:bow:

Like the spring lift too...

I find what works better then liquid wrench is PB Blaster IMHO.

I had a can of PB blaster but it barely peed out of the can so I had to use what was in the garage.

so should I start with front or back first?

I remember from before that the front leafs cant be reversed because of different bolt sizes....is the rear leafs the same way?....is there a front/back to the rear leafs?
(been a few years since I lifted one of these)

I just finished a 4" rough country lift on my 1985 M1009 and It fought me the whole way with rusted bolts. I almost think doing the lift on my 2004 2500HD was easier I used a whole can of pb blaster I wish I would have had a oxy-acytelene torch

If you use the beauty rings be prepared for the "squeak". Had a set on my 86 with factory rallies and 35" BFG's and i would hear a squeak at low speeds and turning, turns out the beauty ring was squeaking. Removed it and went back to just the center caps and bare rally.

well this is fighting me too, started at the rear and had to cut the u-bolts off, then the spring eye bolts were frozen/rusted to the leaf inner sleeves. Finally got one rear leaf off and the shackle bolt is frozen solid to the sleeve. So here I sit after 5 hours and havent accomplished anything and I need a set of shackles because that last bolt will not seperate from that damn sleeve/leaf spring and the sleeve is spining on the rubber...sucks because I almost ordered new ones from LMC :eek1:

With the fronts try soaking them in PB Blaster each night for a week. PB Blaster is ammazing stuff. Then take a tap and ensure that the treads are clean above the bolt. Just my 2 cents. That is how I would do it. Also I would apply heat to the bolt before each nighltly PB Blaster treatment. Maybe over kill but a little time may save much frusration.

Good tips, I dont have a torch though. Problem is the rear leaf bolts were frozen to the sleeve so no lube will get inside that. I got the rear done finally, had to cut the front leaf bolts and u-bolts....damn Im tired :doah:

I'm no expert here.. but I would have tried to heat it with propane. It can be had for cheap at Lowes or Home Depot. Maybe that would have freed it and say the trouble of all the cutting. Plus we need picks. Keep us posted how it goes.
