? with studdering

Ok here goes when I am at a stop light my blazer wants to creep foward like it is studdering and wanting to inch forward on each studder. (and yes my foot is on the brake) Thank you

it could be that its idling really high or the throttle cable gets stuck and its giving it gas with yer foot off the gas pedal. just go to the linkage and grease it. as for the idling try and adjusting it. later.

ya thought of that one and the tach says it is only idling at about 800-850

We ne-need a bit more info. H-h-how does it idle ou-out of gear (high-surges-inconstant)? Does it consistantly act like this? Is the drive train current with the '73 - nothing upgraded- yet? Cold-weather?

Possible causes that come to mind:
High idle setting.
Choke isn't pulling off correctly.
Worn throttle shaft bore.
Vacume leak

More details may help.

ok here goes out of gear it idles about 1000 after it is warmed up,with my foot on the brake waiting for the light to change it will idle about 850 in gear and it is like I am a a kid and letting go and pushing back on the brake to make the truck shake. But it just moves a tad bit and it only happins when it is a long light or have to sit for a while in gear (if it is the carb then I will have to wait till jan and then I will get tpi or the holley pro jection) hope this helps

the motor is all stock just new wires and the such,stock drivetrain (for now till jusne when my bonus comes he he) I have replaced the acc.pump and that helped but then went to the mountains 5000 ft and started running with a studder at take off and this problem came on

Idle speed is way-to-high. It's up against the converter in-gear and tring to move the truck- basicly your "power-brakeing."

Check the list above. Choke, idle setting, vacume leaks, and the throttle bore for wear.

I think the normal out-of-gear idle speed should be around 650 - 700 RPM after the choke lets go.
