My 77 blazer currently has the cheyenne level trim on it. I recently repainted it (btw don't use that Body Shop paint from your local parts place) white and red and reinstalled the trim. Well, since that paint is crap, I am going to redo it with PPG this time and thought I'd reach out and see what opinions here are on two tone paint.

Here it is in all of its original stick on wood grain glory. That wood grain sticker is a pain in the a** to remove, especially if there is any surface corrosion under it.

Here it is after painting, but before the truck was put back together. (That isn't the actual gas cap that I painted.)

And here is a pic of it with all of the trim, several months later (with lots of Wyoming winter road grime applied for effect.)

So when I repaint it, should I follow the body lines and sell the trim or plan on reinstalling the trim after?

I voted with trim. That way you don't have such a hard line between the two colors. Looks good either way though.

First thing I do when I buy one of these truck is strip the trim off. I think it looks horrible.

What's wrong with the paint? Why not just polish it up and be done?

If it was only an issue of polish, then I would do that. But the paint is bubbling up in several areas and is easy to scrape off. I did a good job of prep work, the paint just is not as impervious as PPG. I painted my 1978 Camaro with PPG a few years back and besides some orange peel in the clear (totally user error) the paint has held up beautifully. The base in many areas of the Camaro was in worse shape than the Blazer is.

I like the trim, but then again I like to be different. It seems like every Blazer I see, whether a trail only, or a street driven rig, has removed the trim.

I am also biased, since I am searching for the best deal on new trim to replace all the trim that was removed from Krusty.

You cant 2-tone a 73-80 with out the trim it looks like sh!t. on a 81-91 you can because the factory broke it up with pinstriping and stick on trim.

IMHO if you dont put the trim back on it will look half a$$ed .

Its like wearing your underware on the outside , sure you can do it but . But its a Sh!tty idea. :haha:

No trim...Sell it to me;) Aside from buying new from LMC I've had no luck finding good replacement trim and I really like the looks of it:D
