I am awaiting the delivery of my new trans next week and need to get fluid. The company that rebuilt the trans says use dexIII/royal purple or Schaeffer's.The royal and Schaeffer's are about $150 for a case.I asked about using wolfs head brand synthetic because its $3.50 a quart and they said they never heard of it so don't use it.Just because they never heard of it doesn't sound like a good reason not to use it.And on that note I never heard of Schaeffer's.So any of you use wolfs head synthetic fluid in your rigs?

Never heard of it. I use generic parts store brand ATF. Napa, carquest, whatever.

love the idea of reman place making you use synthetic over reg stuff. :doah:

unless that tranny is newer stuff and was designed for it from the factory.

and synthetic is good and worth the money. but making you run 1 or the other is kind of funny to me.

i remember wolfshead products from back in the day...

if you care anything about a warranty, i'd run what they want ya to run.... spent good money on a trans, why cheap out on fluid...

Ill look into the dex6.Don't want to spend $150 for fluid when I only put a few hundred miles on the truck a year so itl take a long time to hit 20-30k when it needs to be changed.

Also, Dex6 is not compatible with transfer cases requiring dexIII. It does not have a specific additive that is needed, but for auto trans, it is an upgrade from dexIII.

Wall mart has a GM approved dex6 that's $2.60 a quart but would have to drive to Road Island store because its an in store only item.:sign5:

EDIT; Had my zip set up wrong so its close by after all.Guess I'm taking a trip to Wall Mart for some rebranded dex6.
