My 1985 K5 Blazer has been sitting for the past few years while I have been making a lot of repairs on it to make it road worthy again. During this time, I have kept starting it at least once a week. It seemed to always start and run fine up until about two weeks ago. Suddenly, it will not start. The last time I was able to start it, it seemed to run fine.
I have checked over several things and it seems to be something with the carb. When I turn the key, I can hear the starter attempting to crank the engine over. However, it does not attempt to fire. I also checked and I do get spark at the spark plugs. Also, I am getting fuel coming out of the fuel line after the fuel filter and before the inlet on the carb. So, the fuel pump appears to be working. Is there something I can check or clean on the carb that might be clogged up? This is on a 305 with an edelbrock carburetor model 1406 1945.

Thanks,
Matt

BAD FUEL, i can't stress enough what bad fuel can do to an engine. Gas starts going bad after about 6 months, it will start to smell like terpentine and becomes very gummy and sticky and can easily hang a valve open and then the piston will hit it and bend the valve(s). The tank needs to be removed and boiled clean, not just drained.
