O.K. i searced the old posts, and found a lot of good info but i still have a question.
Last night my truck was running fine 1989 blazer 5.7 tbi. i parked it went to get back in it and it would not start. This morning i started looking for things wrong.
1 if i poor gas in the tbi carb it starts and dyes after the gas is burnt up. So i am getting a spark.
2 i replaced the fuel filter which looked real new. Still wont start.
3 checked all the fuses and everything looks good.
4 un screwed the fuel line to see if i had pressure. No

I am thinking that it is the fuel pump. Being it starts when i put gas in the carb and the fuses look good.
My question, is there anything else that could cause the fuel pump not to work besides just failing.

Sorry for the long winded post and thank you in advance for all your input.

well it does sound like the full pump turn the key on and see if you can hear it (with the key on it will run for a few seconds to presurize the system before actualy starting) if you can then it could be that somthing is blocking full somewhere if you dont hear it then try running a hot wire right to it this will eliminate bad wireing or a bad fuse oh and also check the ground wire hope this helps

Thanks for the idea about the hot wire to the fuel pump, Didn't think about that one.

Again thanks for the help

there is a relay under the hood that actually powers the fuel pump, check it, the fuses, and the wiring back to the pump.
