Re: won\'t start

Check your connections, Go right from the camry's battery with the car running to the Positive and the negative to a good ground on the engine block, like the alternator bracket.

Re: won\'t start

I donno if the camry battery will push the v-8 starter or not.. only one way to find out though give it a try... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Re: won\'t start

What he said, plus, rev the camary up a few 100 rpm's and leave it there for a couple minutes while jump starting.

Re: won\'t start

sorry - i wasn't clear - i have tried to jump it with the camry and it wont work. i've also tried to jump it with my friend's explorer (v8) - didn't work...just turns over real slow.

does this sound like simply a dead battery? my friend thinks it's an alternator...

thanks for the suggestions...

Re: won\'t start

If the battery has fused a couple of cells it will not jump start. Sounds like its toast!

Re: won\'t start

thanks for the help guys - i didn't realize you couldn't jump if the battery was too bad off - i'll take it down to autozone tomorrow and have it checked

Re: won\'t start

Yep a battery can be so fried that it won't jump.
We had one go in my wifes old car like that. She fires up the car goes and drops the oldest at Day care. Came out and car was so dead no lights at all and wouldn't jump.
I have been having good luck with the Durlast batteires from the Zone. My 75 sits some times for a week or longer and never had an aounce of trucble turnning over the truck in almost 4 years no matter how cold and how long it sat.
