...this could make things really interesting... some trails in Moab might look quite different...

Hey Joe Canyon could have gone from a moderate to a hard. Tip-toe could now be boulder hop.:eek1:

Team Poco Loco
1984 K5 with some stuff added

Green is the Hey Joe Canyon trail; I've marked where the trail drops into Spring Canyon. The mark at the bottom of the map is the Mineral Bottom Switchbacks where the severe washouts occurred. This is not so far away... maybe we need to check w/ the BLM...

Maybe i want to do Hey Joe Canyon Friday. Little high speed desert roads to get tot he rock crawling:pimp:

That's if I can manage to get my co worker to work Friday so I don't have to:eek1:

Just have to wait and see if his dad is still with us at that point in time:(

the Park Service posted a few more pictures of the switchbacks down to Mineral Bottom :eek1: :eek1::

Woah! The scale of it is tough to see at first. It just looks like a little washout until you look at how small the people standing next to it are.

Woo Hoo is right! As long as they don't close it.
Looks like some fun to me and it keeps the touron's off. I'm freckin ready to do it!
I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO stooked about this year. This WILL BE THE BEST BASH YET!
I'll do anything to make sure it is. Bud, I can't wait to see you.
OK, maybe we can't do that but I'm ready to try ALMOST anything.

I like the Park Service's description:

"...signifcant portions of the road were obliterated..."

OBLITERATED!!! No kidding that's some serious road damage. I bet it never re-opens.

Just called the BLM office and Spring Bottom Canyon is still open. He did comment it wouldn't take much for another good rain to wipe it out.

The only other road closure besides Mineral Bottom is Onion Creek. He also commented there are several roads closed within the parks including White Rim.
