:DI recently put on some new (new to me) headers, I had just changed the exhaust manifold gaskets about 5-6 months ago and figured they were good enuff to reuse, WRONG. I had a pretty bad ticking sound once I got the new to me headers on. So, thanks to the wise ppl of CK5.com , I picked up some Fel Pro #1444 gaskets at my local speed shop. Swapped them in and went for a drive..NICE!!. No more ticking sound. Plus when I took the old ones out, they literally fell apart, no wonder I had a nasty ticking sound. So, dont be lazy and try to save a dime. While it wasnt to bad to change the gaskets, it was unnecessary work I had to do cuz I went cheap and tried to reuse my old stuff.

So, there you go. For those that BTDT im sure you agree and for those new to this game, take a lesson from those that suffer.

Generaly it's not a good idea to reuse gaskets. There are a few that you can get by reusing though, carb base gaskets, collector gaskets and sometimes header gaskets. One piece oil pan gaskets can be reused too. Other wise just spend the few $$$ and replace them. Once gaskets get an impression in them...it's tough to get them to reseal.
