Hi all, finally getting the interior done. Lot's of cleaning:eek1:, plenty of Krylon Fusion, New carpet, and some Aluminum Diamond Plate. Overall it's turning out pretty good but painting plastic:doah:........well it works but i doubt it will hold up very long, oh well could not afford all new plastic so for now it is what it is. What's next: Need to finish passenger side rear panel (working on that today), door panels and kick area at bottom of door's, dash is done and ready to go back in. I'm sure there is more but that's the big ticket stuff for now.
Hope you all like, comments and suggestions are always welcome:bow:.................pics? Sure!

Hey thanks, ya got some more pics. It was a real mess the carpet had the sound deadning mat leeching through, PO must of had a fight with a couple quarts of oil or something it took a while to clean that chit up.
I got the rear passenger panel done also, fixed the tailgate latch still working on the power window motor so i will prep and paint inner-tailgate and cover. Then move on to the dash, clean up a mess of wiring and install dash components. More photos in my album,
Again thanks.....

Wow! Yeah mine did not have the rust, living hear in Eastern Wa. rigs hold up very well. But when you have a complete idiot for a PO things get messed up pretty good. Nice job on the fab work by the way!

Been working on the tailgate had some issues with the power window motor (thanks to all the valuable info from the site!) turned out to be the latch wasn't hitting tight enough so it caused a faulty ground for the safety switch. So i adjusted the strike and presto up and down she goes. So then i was able to put the cover back on with a little fresh paint........

Wow looks great!:waytogo:

How'd you do the diamond plate on the rear panels next to the tail gate? Is it glued to the cardboard type material that was there, or did you just cut that part away and hard mount it to the body? I'm thinking of getting some 1/8" diamond plate and just making the entire rear panels out of them.

Thanks!
I just removed the ugly carpet:eek1:, overlaid the Diamond Plate using the seam line just above the factory side panel screw holes so i could put clear holes in DP and use as a guide for the top edge and the contour of the bottom for a template. Worked with the cardboard till i got it rite then transfered to the DP. You can see the back edge of the paperboard (if you look close) when tailgate is down but i painted it black, so with three screws down the tailgate post you don't even notice.
I like your idea of the 1/8 DP. One suggestion: the one thing i did to the aluminum was to clean it good, then wipe down with Isopropyl and painted it with a good non yellowing clearcoat. It tones the mirror finish down just enough and you don't have to re-polish:p:.
Good Luck!

Getting the Dash done........

Slow process, but making progress. Just have to tie in all the wiring do the door panels install seats and i'm ready to get dirty.........:eek1:

Thanks, i'm working on the door panels now. Just about finished man this project is taking some time. More pic's coming in the days ahead.

Nice interior. Are you planning on keeping the stock steering wheel or will you be replacing it with another one whether it be from another vehicle or aftermarket?

Thanks, i think i will swap out the steering wheel. I would like to go with something a little smaller diameter. Some kind of aftermarket i'm sure, or mite see what size the s-dimes have. Have a good one.........

If you replace the steering wheel with another GM wheel, I'd suggest the '92-'94 Chevy Lumina wheel. Here's a pic:

Door panels are done..........

Got all the plastic painted, thanks to the vast amount of knowledge from Ryoken mentioning the SEM products in his posts. That stuff works good. Anyone who does not wan't to pony up $25.00 for a membership is crazy. all of the information on this site is awesome!
Anyway got a few pic's.................
