Trying to change the alternator. Got one nut left but it will not budge to save my soul. Would try heat but there's too much grease & crap on it. Gonna sleep on it try again in the morning.

I will never buy a sideways engine vehicle again!!!!!

Say what about your left nut?

Lol, I couldn't resist. Sorry

That's why I got the rogue, sideways 4 banger everything is easy to work on, not that I had to, but I can even sit in the engine bay

I have a Toyota Venza with a sideways V6...
Nice car, I really like it... I have viewed a few videos about fixing various things that to me looked like a nightmare...

but what I have learned is that by pulling the pass side wheel and inner fender, it really opens up a lot of things for easier access...

is that an option for you on your Murano ??

I used to cringe at thought of removing my Evolution transmission along with the tcase. Such a PITA and no room. The engine was a bitch to remove as well. Very fast car but I hated doing those big items. Went through 5 engines through bad tunes or mahine work.

It has a splash shield hanging off the inner unibody fender. I've removed as much as possible. I put the impact & chisel on it, it won't budge. I made sure there's not a lock tab on it. My son in law is bringing some aerokroil over. If that doesn't work it looks like I'll be taking a cutting wheel to it. And the left but is fine BTW! Lol

I tried both ways with the chisel. Nadda. It did cross my mind....it's not moving at all. Rechecked the guide, there's an actual nut there not a threaded boss.

Ha! I have an old mans spine already! I'm 2 inches shorter than I was in my prime due to disk and arthritis issues. My Bride gave me one of her rubber pads to lay on vs the cement floor. Saved me lots of pain!

I was thinking the alternator mounting nut and thru bolt, but let's see what @Big Ray says...

Is that bolt accessible with an impact ?
just brainstorming here...

Edit: just re-read....he said he did try an impact on it...

The through bolt but, behind the idler that is removed. Yeah, I tried bumping it off with the chisel bit. Done that for years on aircraft. It does no periphial damage, unless a total dumbass is doing it. Seen plenty of those sadly...

Been hitting it twice a day with aerokroil. Gonna have it out this weekend. We'll either be driving this one or at a car lot....

socket on it with a big bar, either it breaks free or or snaps off. Win win

Agreed.....being as it is a thru bolt what's the worst that can happen?
if it snaps off, a trip to the hardware or AP store ?

I've snapped of bolts before on purpose, knowing that it would take longer to replace the bolt than to screw with it..

Can't get straight on it. Socket slipped off every time. It will come off sat., one way or anudder. Got cutting wheels, grinding burrs, ball files, and a dremel. It WILL come off. I'm pissed now.
