For those of us that dont have a heated garage to work on our vehicles when its cold outside, what do you guys use to keep your work area "warm"?

I was thinking of using a 55gal drum to have a fire in, but that can heat up/melt the driveway. What do you guys use? I'd like to find something to use since I will be doing a tranny swap in one of my other cars in the coming weeks. thanks:thumb:

One set of under armor pants/shirt. 2 Sweatshirts, 2 pairs of jeans, One Carhart beanie, One Carhart Jacket, and some craftsman work gloves.. :D

FML.. lol

I can't afford to heat my garage all the time, so a pair of work gloves insulated, and a set of insulated Wall coveralls

I wear cold-weather Army socks, in winter.
Hot weather, in summer.

I also layer up, in the cold.
Halogen worklight ~4' from me helps, too. :D

I've got a smallish propane salamander heater that puts out a surprising amount of heat. It'll heat my 24x30 shop from 30 to 70 degrees in about 20 minutes. And for working outside you could have it blowing at you.

Look on CL for a kerosene salamander heater.

I wear insulated coveralls and multiple layers. Depending on how cold or wet it is on the landing. Layers, layers, layers.

A fire is the best since it warms you up when needed and doesnt get in the way when you're working. The halogen lights do work well in the evening though. I have a four bulb setup on the truck with me. The operators usually keep a fire roaring for me though.
