Hi All,

I bought a 75K5 recently that needs a ton of work. I think the guy I bought it of use an 89 as a donor and did a bad job of swapping the parts.

One problem is the pitman arm, it is chrome and seems to be loose and no amount of tightening helps.

Can anyone tell me if I need a specific pitman arm to acomodate a 4" lift? I managed to get a steering box from an 85 suburban with the origonal pitman arm attached, will it work or do I need a different arm for the lift?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

J

I believe the threads are different on the hoses for the boxes. But the arm may work if it's a 4x4.

Sounds like u got some work ahead of ya. I'd be curious about your updates. Heck, ur just down the street haha.

Yea, I took the steering box of a 89 4x4 and from what I can tell that is what is already on my Truck so the hoses "should" fit...

I'll post my progress, it'll either be a quick hour job or with my luck an all day affair.

its not that they wont fit, its that they have have gone to metric hoses by 89, so they may be the wrong threads. Make sure before you strip them out. Chromed pitman arm? Big pimpin ey? haha

Up until mid 1980 the steering boxes used a flare fitting hose and mid 1980-later GM changed to the O-ring style hose.

Yup if they are metric hoses (they are on my '88 so by '89 it's probably a safe bet) one will be a 16mm and the other is an 18mm. The 18mm is a beeyotch since most end and flare nut wrench sets don't include that size. I'm still bitter about that...
