I am new to the site and I in the process of buying a 89 K5 Blazer with a 350 and stock height. The 350 has just been rebuilt and the guy who I am buying it from has owned it all his life and drove it back and forth to work 6 miles. The paint is in amazing condition except for two bad spots on the roof. The hardtop has also just been repainted and it has brand new 32" Sport King tires. Under body is a little rusty but just surface stuff. I am getting it for $1700. Does this sound like a good deal. I will post pictures later.

sounds like a deal to me. I have the same truck myself. How many miles are on it? Who rebuilt it? Make sure to check the frame at the steering box.

The guy that we are buying it from has been friends with my dad since High school and I think it had like 150K on motor before rebuild. And I think it has like 5,000 now. A local shop rebuilt it, and it is a very good place for rebuilds. They rebuilt the motor in one of my CJ 7's. What do I look for at the steering box? Thanks guys.

Check around the frame where the box is mounted, bigger tires ause this area to get fatigued over time. Sounds like a good deal though.

1700 is a good price for a clean 89. Go for it. I have a 89 K5 owned it for almost 10 years now. It is a great truck.
I doubt if the frame is cracked by the steering box only running 32" tires and mostly street use. Stress cracks are usually an issue running larger tires.
If it is an auto trans With 150K on it check the trans fluid. It should look like new.
if it is dark red or brown and smells burnt. The trans may be on its way out.

I was gonna ask about the transmission. I didnt get to check it but I definitely will. I have a set of 35" tires at the house that I plan on putting on the truck once I buy a lift. But it all depends if what kind of shape that tranny is in. Thanks for the advice guys. I will put up some pictures of it and as I add mods to it.
