I know my transfer case is pretty worn. Makes all kinds of noises on the freeway. Is it worth rebuilding these yourself? Anyone know a decent place you can buy a rebuilt one for a reasonable price?

NP208 rebuilds aren't real expensive, last I saw replacing the chain almost doubled the cost.

They're so common, I'd look pretty hard at a good used one. They are pretty good, longevity wise, without really big tires.

NP208 isn't a bad t-case. I paid $600 to have mine rebuilt (didn't have time to deal with it myself) and it works great.

I gues what I am seeing is bearing kits for around $120 and new chain for $75. So that's a complete rebuild for under $200.

If I found a rebuilt one for under $400 I'd probably just buy one. But it looks like most people want $600-800 for a rebuilt np208. At that price I'd probably just do it myself.

REBUILD IT.... you built a freaking engine....:haha::rolleyes:

I'm not worried about the complexity. I do however value my own time. If it were reasonably priced I'd probably just buy it. But I'll probably just end up rebuilding cause they just want to much IMO.
