Well, I had a holley 600 single pumper on my 5.0 305, and it ran great, but it got stolen so i'm going to replace it, I found a nice holley 600 for pretty cheap but its a double pumper. Would it be too much for my motor? or would it even make any difference? I'd like to pick one up asap. so let me know what you think. also would it be with it to put a cam in my truck.

Mods are going to be
intake, carb, headers with full exhaust.

I was just wondering if it would be worth it to throw a cam in it while i'm at it.
if so what cam would you suggest, I know nothing about cam lifts or anything, I'd like it to have the cam sound. so what do you think?

thanks alot!
Jack

I wouldn't waste money for a cam in a 305. As for the double pumper it will work you just may have to tune it. I would bolt it on and try it first.

I wouldnt see why you wouldnt though. It is a hell of a lot more work than just the carb. If your going to do the cams, you might as well wait, and get the "HCI" package :)

aka, the "heads, cams and intake".

I was just trying to get a little more power out of this motor, i'm just running it while I pickup a 350 block and build a 383.

Since you are carbless.. just get and Ebrock one for now. Cheap and it is plug n play. 600 CFM E-choke will be fine.

Don't try to coax any kind of power from a 305, yer better off slammin your dick in a sliding glass door.
Save the $$ for the 383
As for a cam.. I highly recomend a Rhoads hydra solid cam & lifter set for any SBC engine bigger than 305 and smaller than 406.
More $$ than others but only by a few bux.
As long as they keep making that grind I won't use any other.
