Would a new (2006) 14 bolt work on my '75 K10?

I have a line on a good deal on a 2006 14 bolt out of a Chevy Silverado. It's 8-lug, 4.10 gears, and factory locking (or so I'm told.) Can anyone tell me if this would work with my 75 K10 truck? I've currently got the stock 12 bolt in it but am looking to move up. Are the new axles as good as the old 70's and 80's 14 bolts?

I don't really know much about the newer axles...I'm worried there will be ABS crap or other things that would cause me problems hooking it up.

Don't know about spring spacing, but I'm pretty sure that it's a metric bolt pattern. (which doesn't mean that it won't work)

I would think that the width may be different and spring mounts as well.
