A guy on my local craigslist is parting out a 1984 3/4 ton Suburban this weekend...I need a new dash and was wondering if the dash in an '84 suburban would fit in my '85 K10...I don't see why it wouldn't unless they changed something from '84 to '85....

Thanks!

cool...

I'll go see what he wants for it and hopefully I'll have a real dash soon!
Shoot...maybe he had the factory tach too! That would be a nice holiday surprise...

it wont swap over, where it goes around the doors will be totally different. your truck has 2 doors, where the burb has 4. you might be able to make it work though.

as for the tach, it didnt, guaranteed.

it will fit, but the 85 had wiper controls on the column and the 84 had them on the dash. if you use the 84 bezel, you have a square hole above the light switch.

Oh, I think I might not have been specific enough...I'm not talking about the face of the dash...just the top...where mine is fuzzy right now...lol
The rest of my dash is fine, I just pulled it all apart not too long ago and cleaned it out so now its time for a new top.

I just want to replace this...

I can't imagine why you would want to replace that. its shagadelic. chances are that his dash isn't great since its 20+ years old. but its got to be better then what you have.

I just checked my e-mail and he said that the one in the 'burban is already claimed but that I could have the one out of "his" for $10.
So I e-mailed him back and asked what truck his was...but for $10 it might be worth it to get it and see what I could do...couldn't get much worse than what I have now, lol.
He also gave me his address and he is literally a couple blocks from me...maybe a mile...probably less...so I'll run over there today sometime and check these parts trucks out.

thanks...the duct tape is nice like that...super hot and burns parts that shouldn't be burned in the summer and nice and cold in the winter.

That kind of stuff is last on my list...when you had 3.08's in 10b's running 38.5's a duct tape seat doesn't look so bad, lol.
I got a quote to have it redone and he said for about $200 he would replace the foam and reupholster it but I'm also really wanting to do buckets/captains so I just waited.

Yeah...thats true...I've looked around for them and most of the covers that I've seen have been for buckets and the ones I've found for benches aren't exactly something I'd want to put in my truck.

that shag is pretty pimp man.

why even bother replacing it.

:D Because it doesn't exactly fit correctly and doesn't bolt into place so it just sits there and rattles around...plus the dude covered up the vents when he put it on so now even if I get my AC/Heater fixed it won't really work.

$20 for a saddle blanket seat cover vs. countless $$$ when it ruins your clothes, one piece at a time. gee, that's a hard decision. :screwy: function over form, but then again, you're just a young pup from Cali, so what do you know about that?

It doesn't ruin my clothes...plus I'm in my coveralls all the time anyway.
