Would this scare you off?

What you need is someone local to check out a rig for you if you find an ad out of state that looks good. I've done if for other members before. Last one was for @AJMBLAZER where I found him a rust free, diesel K5 for $1200, he flew in and drove it home across country without issue.

What about the Oregon Washington stuff? A buddy is stationed up there and sends me links to trucks just to rub it in. He even buys a few of em lol

I’m open to anywhere, as long as its rust free. My ‘85 toyota originated in Washington before making its way to Cali and then Atlanta, where I bought it. So yea, feel free to pm me links if anything good pops up! Thanks!

My '85 Suburban came from WA state and spent only a couple years in VT and one in MA before I got it--it was one of the cleanest trucks I've had as far as the undercarriage, and rust..
Till I stupidly let it sit since I got it in the fall of '09...now its rockers are non existant and the bottoms of the doors are bubbly, the wheel arches too,and I'm afraid to lift up the carpet and see whats left of the floor..:doah:.

I have seen quite a few decent trucks as far as little to no rust in some states not that far from here, that limit the use of road salt..some from the NC area seem to be decent too,but the west coast has the most it appears..the desert trucks usually need a whole new interior, they get baked and everything cracks..ones from further north dont seem to age as badly inside..

Ahhhh, but the moisture kills the interior. I ended up replacing the seats and trashing the carpet of my ‘89.

I always say, I can look at any truck around San Bernardino.
I could probably plan something in Los Angeles if I were to drive into work one day.

I got my truck north of Fresno. 100% Rust free and straight but the interior was a mess. $1300 working AC/heat and drove it home

Probably closer to 1500 since he's on the east coast. I looked into it once and it was about 1200 to get a vehicle from southern Cali to Chicago.
Mine was $1500 from northern Cali to Nebraska.
But mine was like 8500 all told with all the extra parts and big block and everything. Most people wouldn’t touch it did to weight rules. So I paid more for the privilege. When I sold a k5 from out there to Indiana, I think he paid a grand. So I guess $1k-1500 would be safe

I’m walking away from this one, but love the silver/black color combo

The search continues!

PS- My post above was a “clear as mud” invitation to anyone that doesn’t mind shipping a truck. I am willing to help someone SERIOUS about buying a CA truck by looking a couple over for them.

Unless it’s going to be replacing a rusted out plow truck. That’s like sending a clean truck to the junkyard. (Which I could still pick up from a junkyard a more “rust free” truck than what was pictured earlier.)

Exactly.
Same goes here.
If I see something I will tell but feel free to look in norcal and I will go check it out and even pick up and setup shipping.

Remember...just cause it comes from out West doesn't mean it lived it's whole life out there....

Take the advise and offers for assistance. I used searchtempest which will search every state on Craigslist to find my k5 3 years ago. Found a stock 87 all orig with 140K in Santa Rosa. Shipped it to pa for $1200. Had a buddy in SF at the time who checked it out for me. Spent 5k on the rig, probably more than what I should have but the young man that had it spent 2500 and then had Trans rebuilt, rear seals and new tires and shocks (all six). He had the receipts from the shop.

Anyhow, I swapped front bumpers as the one from my rusted 88 was straight. Took me 5 minutes to get the bumper off the west coast rig and an hour to get the one off my 88 due to rusted bolts. Everything came off the 87 without a problem. Did notice the underside of the dash pad was rusted where my 88 was like new...underside, not top.
