Would this work for a second alt?

will not work, that is the early short water pump style alternator bracket. You currently have a long water pump if you have a passenger side alternator.

Crud. I cant find much on driver side alts w/ power steering.

nope its for old a$$ short water pump stuff.

try and find some 85-86-87-88 with v belt and serp belt both combo. thay went to alt on driverside i think.

if not its going to possibly be custom.

why not do what i did on my plow truck. 200 amp alt. and its 125 at 800 rpm. been doing great for few years now. and was bolt in unit.

yup, i'll run a second.. as strictly my welder.. otherwise, doubt i'd ever go thru the hassle of 2...

system? you can do a single 200 to 300 amp-er for any of that..

Because we have about 10 stock alternators sitting around. If I had 300 bucks laying around I would definitely buy an HO alt.

Not to mention I already run my batteries separately so a second alt would make it a lot easier to run down my deep cycle without ruining my starter battery, or remembering to flip the switch every time I want to run my lights with the truck off.

i have done this its really ease. first u need this part http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4051/ then bolt a peice of 1x1 1/8 inch wall angle iron to it about 6 inches long, then bbolt this to it http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4050/ , the angle iron give u the off set u need for the pulleys to line up right, and allows the alt to stand up right for more adjustment, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4049/ then bolt this to ur water pump so u can adjust the belt (make have to put a bend or two in it), then ull be ready to rock and roll, personally ran this set up for two years with no problems. ill try and round up some pichure for u of how i had mine set up.

yes, they are, until '88 i believe, my '89 is driver side, so is the '94, my '88 TPI Camaro was also driver side... AC compressors were on the passenger side. Of course these are all serpentine belts setups too.

I got a 170amp CS144 Delco alternator in place of my CS130 turd.

Here's the link:

http://www.alternatorparts.com/category_cs144.html#single-rectifier

100 amps at idle, direct bolt in in place of the CS130, and $219 for the single rectifier unit. If I was running winches/spotlights/welders/compressors/electric water pumps etc, I'd have gotten the larger dual rectifier unit, but it'll set you back another $100.

Since my truck is just running electric fans/fuel pumps/hot ignition/mild stereo, the 170amp single rectifier was just fine.

Badass upgrade, I highly recommend it.

Also, on my '91, there's an empty accessory bracket directly below the AC compressor on the passenger side. Could probably make something work in that location if your truck has it.

Once again, plenty of stock ones laying around, 100 amp and 90 amp ones. And the stereo if far from mild and enough strain for my 130 amp alt thats currently on there. If i was going to put down for an alternator it would be 350+ amps.
