Guy wants to trade me my shortbed chevy, that all iwas going to use was the cab. Its in OK condition, ugly from the outside, and mild rust in the floorboards. (replace rockers, and patch like 1square foot and its good). He has a 69-72 full top blazer.

From what ive seen of it, it has a 4 or 6 inch lift, winch bumper, and it looks to be in fair condition.

I'm really considering doing it, I started my senior project truck as a blazer and changed to a longbed. So i can just pull the body off, put my lift stuff back on the blazer and go from there.

Any input? whats the worth of these things anyways?

Neither run. :D I already have an 84, and I have a sweet spot for the circle headlights, Like the 82 shortbed is square, but I was going to put my 77 clip on it instead.
 
need more pics of the blazer. but i like the blazer so i would go for it. engine, etc are easy to find.
 
Yeah, it would be a straight trade.

now the whole building motor, tires, steering...thats another story :D He is supposed to get me some more pictures on Wednesday, so we will go from there.
 
If your truck is in similar condition (terrible condition) then do it. Can't imagine your truck is worse than the K5. BTW it looks like a Jimmy not a blazer.
 
Looks like someone was swapping on a 67 front clip with the slanted forward fenders.

Looks like a GMC Jimmy grill too.



That doesn't look so bad. Come to Michigan or Wisconsin, we'll show you some rust buckets...
 
I say go for it but I have a soft spot for first gens. then again I have a soft spot for all old chevys.:D
 
I have a soft spot for first gens too, and say do it, and take care of the old girl. She deserves it.

But damn she looks like she was rode hard and put away bent.
 
yeah, i was gonna say.. she doesn't look like she's sitting straight anymore.. could just be missing body mounts or something too.... ROUGH. But if its a project your looking for and it's in the same shape as the one you've got now... why not?!

Wierd picture , looks like the body line of the door doesn't line up with the rear quarter either . Like the doors sagging down in the front , and the front fender is either not bolted on , or sagging more than the door .

Is the frame straight ? Why was it taken of the road to begin with ?

Pass , save money , fly to AZ/NV/NM/TX , drive home in a runner :D
 
I'm not going to make any decision till i get more pictures, I guess he bought it and pulled the trany case and motor out of it.

I rember him saying that the clip is wasted, I also thought that the grille/clip appeared to be older than a 69.
 
If it was up to me, I would do it, then I would take the beating from my wife. It is up to you, but I have a real soft spot for the first gens. If I had the money I would have already picked up a couple that are in about the same condition as that one, and never looked back. Just my 2 cents.
 
As much as first gens are whicked sweet, I would RUN away from this one. Its clearly been beat and if you really want to do a project like this propperly, you're gonna need a TON of cash. And since i doubt you have that kind of coin I would continue with you're current project.
