I installed a dual battery system, and upon completion I started the blazer to make sure everything was working correctly.

It idled just fine for the first 30 seconds then it stumbled like it was going to die, but it recovered. After about 10 more seconds it died. It would turn over, you could hear the fuel pump, and you could smell gas. But no start. I put it back to it's single battery operation but that didn't change a thing. So I pulled the plug wires from the distributor cap, removed the cap and rotor, and removed the ignition module. I tested the pick-up coil and it measured 869 ohms. Acceptable range is 800-1500 ohms. While I was under the hood I noticed that the zip tie, that was holding up the wire harness, was a little low so I tightined it up. It raised the harness up above the oil pressure sensor a little. Seemed to be a good place to leave it. I could have tightened it up a little more but didn't want to put any stress on the harness. It was getting late so I stopped there.

The next day I asked the wife to turn the key for me so I could see if there was any fuel coming from the injectors. Nothing. Then I remembered that I removed the cap and all so duh. I replaced everything that I removed, making sure to plug everything back in and in the right place. Stepped back and said, "Ok, honey...turn the key to on. I heard the pump, but no gas from the injectors. I asked her to just try to start it and.................the focker started. No hesitation, no stutter.....It started like nothing was ever wrong.

It's back on the dual battery setup and is running fine.

Any clues or theories as to what happened? I mean, yeah, it's nice that it's running. But :screwy:
