[Edit]Turns out it was very nice, huh go figure[/edit]

hahahaahah here on the East side it was dry as a bone /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

for the last 10 days or so, its been below 20* here, and with the wind in the morning its gotten as cold as -30! the ol' tbi still fires up within 3 secs tho, gotta love it, of course it takes 15 minutes for it to warm up, but oh well...we haven't put anything in for the fuel lines or anything in any of our cars we drive and they've all been fine, so you shouldn't have to worry

I hear ya. Drove home from Heartsfield at 6:30 AM. Got to watch accidents as they happened!

GEEEZZZZZZ you southern people got it SO FREAKIN easy!!
It was -2 when I got up today, it's 1 degree now, and snowing agian!!! I still have 2+ feet of snow in my yard(and in my blazer)(no top)! And my wife can't figure out why I wanna move!!

dang...something must be wrong with my truck..its been about 20-30 out here, didn't drive the truck for 2-3 days. Went out to it today and it acted like a carb when i started it...took a few tries, like it wasn't getting gas. maybe the engine is just worn and the oil leaked down...

You're not kidding about the unusual weather. I am in Auburn AL, not very far from you, and it is colder tonight than it has been since I've been here...10 degrees F. I hope you all can help me with a problem thats cold related....my truck will not start at this temp. In fact I am staying at someone's house tonight because my truck would not crank...and I have class in the morning.
What can I expect out of a carbed 350 as far a starting....is 10F too cold?? As far as I know everything is in good working order..ignition, carb, etc. But I think something is not right. My truck will crank the first time I try and will run for about 10 seconds and then die and will not crank. Tonight I tried some starter fluid and it would run for a few seconds and die. I have been trying for a TBI swap but can't afford it and need my Blazer to be reliable to get me school. What am I overlooking here???

Thanks, and sorry for straying from the original topic a bit...

You Southerners have it soooooo easy. The Calgary Public School board won't close the schools here till it's -40 C. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Which converted to gringo degrees is still -40 F. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

BigJohnson, check the ground on the starter solenoid. That could cause a *no crank* situation if it's loose.

A few things I'd check would be fuel pump, fuel filter, and if it's only doing it in the cold try putting some heet in your tank. May have some water in there frezzing up.

Couldn't get anyone to go wheeling today.Me and the wife went to play alone.Medium trails are more fun with a little snow.Had a blast.Actually had to back off one hill and use a little momentum.Got pretty good pics too.Need bout 6in instead of 2 and would really be fun. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I run into that all the time here in NY. My club used to go out on bad nights and help pull people out of ditches but we don't do it anymore cause everyone is so sue happy these days. You try to be nice and help someone avoid a $75 tow bill, and they in turn go after you for scratching the paint off their shiny black factory tow hooks. People suck.

Yes, the truck runs great in normal weather. Its got a new gm performance HEI, a freshly rebuilt Carter 625 w/electric choke, the motor is a late model Vortec, everything under the hood is new. It has done this two times now. The first time it was 17F and the next day when it had warmed up outside it fired up on the first try. Last night it was 10F and I don't know if it will get warm enough to start today.
I will add some heet today and see if that helps. Does it remove water or just keep it from freezing? What can I do to get water out of tank and to keep it out?? I know keeping it almost full helps. I had 3/4 of a tank last night when it wouldn't start. I really need to make this truck reliable and fast.
Thanks
Jordan

I don't think people ever learn in this area. We've had steady lake effect snow for a couple weeks here, and it's been real bad this week, but people still don't know how to drive in it. It's been around 0 degrees all week so the salt won't melt the snow. Every morning this week they've had to close sections of the major highways around the city for hours due to accidents at rush hour. It took my girlfriend 2 hours to make her 20 minute drive to work the other day.

Last winter we had almost NO snow and the temperatures were in the 40's most of the time so everyone is in shock here. Guess they forgot what winter is! /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

dont tell me that, my girl is supposed to come to rome today, and she lives in c-ville. if she cant make it i will have nothing to do tonight. i hope the roads are gonna get better. today darlington and calhoun city are the only schools that are open in Noth west GA. it sucks so bad cause i go to darlington. i hate it. good luck with work over the next few dasy though. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

20 mins South of Atlanta its Nice outside but still cold But i like the cold weather and ill be outside putting the Skid plates back on the truck just did the bumper yesterday but i did that in the shop. Started to sand the skid plate today ill be painting it flat black it was red but everyone now paints there [censored] red around here so im going back in black anyway have fun up north of ATL in the snow i wish we got some so i could go wheelin in it. Its fun to ride the 4wheelers in the snow and offroad in it too i prob still go wheelin to night but it will prob be on ice Which is just as fun as snow cuz you never know where you could go! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif www.zombieoffroading.8m.net

Used to have trouble getting mine started when it got really cold if the battery wasn't in good shape. Last year, when I had an unknown drain on my new red top optima, my truck wouldn't start unless I used my dual setup. Would start just fine with the red top and yellow top working together.

CCA on any battery drops dramatically once the temps get really cold.

It could be worse, you could have 4 feet of snow on the ground and -5 highs. Its been snowing nonstop for 2 weeks now, I finally saw the sun for a few hours on Friday. I guess thats what I get for living in Houghton MI, in the Lake Superior snowbelt.
