Wow never seen an engine get this seized so bad. 78 K5

At 4:07 you can see the engine and tranny move downwards as he loosens the bolt. I wonder if there was any risk of the engine or tranny falling down upon him since he was under the K5.

The torque converter is coming out of the transmission it's a lot harder than separating it from the engine.
I just did the same thing on my 74.
And now I am breaking down the 454 and mine is worse than his because it didn't have heads on for 34 years sitting outside

That was a manual, but yes I don't like pulling the tc on the flex plate. The possibility to damage tc or pump, not mention making everything longer, is to high

I also lifted the engine enough to clear the mounts, unbolted the mounts, and cut the crossmember in front of the engine to pull straight out.20241018_174428.jpg

If it sat outside for a long time the hood was still on the K5. I wonder how then the engine could have been so water logged and the internals rusted. Maybe it was in a flood.

Moisture doesn't only come down.
It's in the air and condenses on cold metal.
In my case the hood was like a sieve, but his hood seemed pretty solid
