WOW WHAT A DEAL ball joint press kit from otc

Nice. But truthfully, for rare use (how often do you replace bj's?), the harbor freight one is very similar.

And i KNOW its strong. I was tired, and used everything i had wiht my impact, and constantly kept trying to push my BJ in farther (backwards). Bent the press slightly, but nothing broke.

So yes, if you use it often, worth the extra $25.....but just wanted to post my experiences with teh cheaper version.

i am a auto mechanic. so that why i got my own now.

and the shop one was over 10years old and finaly bit the dust. it was a otc also.

Perfect then. Great deal on a good one for your use.

Good find. :D

Now if you can find me a cheap socket (dana44 ball joints) I'll be set?

that is a smokin deal got the same set from matco a couple months ago. $120

What socket are you refering too? Are you talking about the spanner socket for preloading the upper ball joint? http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=1630&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

You used to be able to buy it from Rockauto
Located on their website under:
Extras/Garage/Sockets/1/2" drive english/ball joint socket

for like $12+ shipping, and since Rockauto seems to be the best place to buy teh good ball joints, it works out.

But for some reason, i cant' find it on their website right now. Doesn't mean its not there though.

And FYI, if you are doing ball joints, read these 2 threads first :

Try and get me a part number off of the kit or the c-frame. The frame and forcing screw are likely all that is warranty.

And I have officially been proven wrong. No Warranty according to my computer. I am sure it had a warranty back in the day but it is so old they just changed it to "No Warranty" since it expired/stopped being made.
