Technically, yes it matters. But, your not likely to find a knuckle for a drum brake axle since they were only offered for one year in 1970. Also, you need to be aware that many D44 knuckles have the tie rod on top with the taper facing down. While the 10 bolts (77-91) and late D44's (77-79) have the tie rod on the bottom with the taper facing up.
That being said, if you don't find one earlier, I will have one in a couple weeks as I get the axles out of my '89.
Thanks, that's correct. I need a 10 bolt knuckle because the tie rod goes on through the bottom. I already have the passanger side 10 bolt and need to get the driver side. I am swapping out the D44 knuckles with 10 bolts for that very reason. Let me know how much you want for it when it is available. Thanks again.
