I know its not exactly the right section but this is more travelled for the toolcentric guys. If you happen to know of someone parting with a machine I would appreciate a PM. Craigslist is riddled with them but they are all quite over priced for the hours on the machine. I mean I emailed someone today who wanted more for a 900hr bobcat than it was new... :doah:

Looking for a machine sub 1500hrs. Would really prefer a 250 ac/dc. Also needs to be a model new enough to be full enclosed in its shell.

Yes that's one of them. Not a great price though. They are generally over priced used and usually you have to let someone sit on them forever to realise it and get a good deal.

Thats a crazy amount of money for that machine. I did score one already though but I appreciate the update. I got a 2010 250 bobcat with 650hrs and recent service for $2250. Thats ages ahead of that machine.

Most of the welders here have one form or another of a Bobcat on their Kalamazoos. They seem to last but I've never used one to know anything about them. I've heard from career welders that they are better for pipe work than a Lincoln which I guess is why our mill is filled with them. :waytogo:

Thats like asking a dude if he likes ass or tits. Believe me theres a huge chunk of people that will stomp there feet you cant weld pipe with anything but a Miller and then there another huge chunk that will say the same about Lincoln.

My machine isnt made for pipe regardless lol. Pipeline machines are typically diesel for the sake of turning slower RPMs and lasting WAY longer at maximum output. Plus Im pretty sure the really big units let multiple guys weld at once off the same machine. I mean is my machine capable of burning 3/16ths rod and welding pipe all day, yes. Its just not great for the longevity of a machine like mine that was designed primarily to tackle repair jobs.

I'm indifferent myself. I learned on a Lincoln AC225 buzz box and now have a Hobart Handler 187. I think our high school had Millers in the ag and machine shop class rooms. If it works for you and you're happy with it then it's the right one as far a I'm concerned.

From what Ive heard its a different story when you get out on the pipeline lol.

Im not exactly anti lincoln, it just happens Ive been way more happier with the performance of any Miller Ive ever used... All the Lincolns Ive used had jumpy wire speed which is a terrible thing...
