wtf? energy sus.? update, new problem*pictures*

I see there are two mounts listed at energy's site, three and four bolt, but thats all I see different. :(

give me the part number you have, my buddy said he can find out the info you need. they sell Energy Suspension stuff through there street rod shop. he said there are two dirrerent replacement inserts. the ones for my big block fit togrether easily when assembled. once it was together I just had to put them in a vise to close the last 1/4 in of gap up. I did not weld mine since I powder coated them. I zip tied them in the rivit holes and will bolt them in and remove the zip ties after install. he said you should not have to grind anything.

Looks like you have the same problem I had.....
Ordered wrong parts.

Somehow (and it was my mistake :o ), I ordered inserts for 88 and up pickups. The inserts look similar to the 73-87, but they are wider. I ordered the correct mounts, installed, and then had a good laugh (at myself).

What part numbers were on the boxes??

i think thats the summit number, but its the only one on the box

I'm gonna be doing this soon too. Leadfoot what part number do they need to be?

you have to find out wich mount you have
i have the 4 bolt clamshells and the PN is 3.1116 i will post the number on the mount when i recieve them.
the 3 bolt clam shells are PN 3.1131 and the number on the mount is 1110

i called energy sus. and it turns out summit sent me the wrong part
after a little fight i got them to send me the right ones
soo we will see what happens

Am I high or do I count more than 4 bolt holes?

Or are the other holes just rivet holes?

The p/n for the "3-bolt" style clamshell inserts is actually 3.1121.......not 3.1131 (probably just a typo, but..).

As mentioned, there are two styles of GM clamshell inserts. My '90 K5 with a factory 6.2 diesel and OEM mounts required the 3.1121 mounts which are also listed for newer trucks and for older ones with the 454. When I replaced mine they fit like they should......pretty tight but they went together and I used a vice to press the clamshells together and tiewrapped the two sides.

I had bought the 4 bolt style inserts (3.1116) first but it was quite obvious by just looking at the mounts that they were different. I can't remember off hand, but the two styles looked very similiar but they were different measurements. My guess is that the original poster simply bought the wrong version of the mounts.

I wonder if the problem could be the mounts are an aftermarket knock-off. Are the mounts the factory one?

this was covered
the wider poly mounts are for the 3 bolt clamshells
they make a narrow one for the 4 bolt clamshells
