WTF is wrong...

A sadly the postage size pics on my phone led me astray. sorry guys. On my laptop now sure looks 2nd gen.

what would your setup cost?

full set of rims, then a ballbark on tires..

My tires are cheap. 37 military surplus. Decent enough tire though.

Rims, that's a whole nother ball game. Still not happy with mine and gona do another set one of these days. I can do better, cleaner.

So, if the next set goes well and I like the outcome, 12 rims to get 4 good ones for the rear. :doah:Totally screwed myself on the second set of four. Cut them apart and realized I had cut them in the wrong spot. Scrap pile they went.

The only time you need stacks on a truck is if your name is Snowman and you're hauling 400 cases of beer from Texas to Georgia. Otherwise they gotta go. :zombie7:

I agree, stacks on a pickup are as ghey as those trucknutz... And all that black smoke from the exhaust is the reason one day there will be more emissions requirements for the diesels. New Jersey is already testing emissions on commercial trucks. All that black smoke is just wasted fuel.

With the 2nd gen trucks, if you had a 2500, you got a D70 with every drivetrain combo available EXCEPT if the truck was equipped with a Cummins AND 5 or 6spd standard trans. In that case it got a D80, and an NP241HD t case also. Yes, that meant even though you had the Cummins, your automatic equipped truck came with a D70, and likely an NP241 standard duty.

All 3500 models had a D80, regardless of drivetrain configuration.

All 2001.5 and 2002 trucks had rear disk brakes.

People get all excited about running out to a wrecking yard and finding an 01.5-02 D80 SRW to swap into their Cummins/auto 2nd gens, but I don't see a reason why. It's not like the D70 is known for any kind of strength issues. I tow FAR more than the average Dodge owner with my D70 equipped '01, and at 20,00lbs+ a lot of the times and my stock D70 with 200K on it has had zero issues. I do run Amsoil synthetic in it also though.

My '94 cummins/nv4500 has an 80 but it doesn't have a 241HD, it has a 241DLD.
If I could find a 241HD I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I've had a lot of problems with my TC. I've semi-abused it in 4wd two times due to being stuck and both times it's had issues afterwards.

Yours is the first I've heard of that didn't have the HD case, with a standard trans. Regardless, you shouldn't be having any trouble with yours anyway. Those cases have proved to be very solid. Might be a bad one or something.

so a 3500 quad or extended cab dually with the 5 spd will have the 241HD and a narrowed 80, correct?

WOW Ryoken, where do you find this stuff. Get back in the dungeon.

Please can we all just say no to dayglow.

And the black one looks like it is running on pizza cutters.

I have a buddy of mine who runs one of those stacks in his dodge and I said "why?" and his answer was so when he pulled his horsey trailer around the anamules didnt haf ta sniff his exaust. The bad part was it only had one stack and it was turned up just off center of his driveshaft but still 2' from the edge of his bedside.

So my next question to him was if your wee wee was a 1/2" shorter would you have 2 belly buttons? Now please turn in your mancard.

Huh?

Oh wait I fixed my post. Didnt mean you on that last one. I meant my buddy. And his stacks. And his truck.

Sorry.

yeah, that was pretty offensive..

I'm just trying to buy/build a badarse tow/service rig... I think something similar to Kert's tire setup would look good on the Dodge...

Yup very sorry.:doah:
Have read all tread and agree with you. Kert's tire don't look so thin but the ones on the black crew cab look like they came of a tractor. Have seen your other tread about the flatbeds and was picking up what you where puting down. I think you have some good ideas on the tow rig front. Especially in your garage I am sure it will come out bad arse.

I really like my duramax, but I am into it for $20 g's. Not exactly a budget build. I do need it for work though.

Hows the back doing?

amazing what a couple words does to a post... feeling pretty good, thanks.... I'm stoked on the Dodge, it needs to be done... I'm thinking of mounting this 12 k Ramsey I have kicking around in the tube bed.... could prove handy, especially in a marina...

my biggest consideration is the tube bed, and it's need to be that much wider than the cab to cover the tires on a dually.. I have some pretty cool drawings of the bed idea's, tube integrated with specifac compartments/drawers made by these guys....

http://www.800toolbox.com/

couple under bed ones in front of each tire... kinda like these with a couple drawrs in em......

semi-box-single-door.jpg

then above the bed, something shaped like this down each side.... but only 2 shelves, about 1/2 as high, and 2/3 as deep and the length of the side rails...

top-lid-box-custom1-open.jpg

these guys definitely build some cool stuff...

service_body-25.jpg

the back corner tube will be very similar to Willard and a few others... couple big mudflaps if I go dually...

The cab and chassis rears are narrower if thats what you're into. Tighter deck.

HaHaHa so $3-5 g's will turn into $20 g's in your garage. Oh wait I forgot about the blazer. Very very cool boxes. That's what I meant by get back in the dungeon, you've had too much time to look around the internet.:haha:

Never mind keep searching, you keep bringing all the good ideas to us. Saves time. Thank you.

eh, I'm gonna try to actually stay reasonable on the Dodge... I do figure I'll probably put 3 or 4 into it when I get it... it's gonna be a 10 g detour from the K5.. the prob with the K5 is, it's so over the top, it would eat that 10 g's and want more... :haha: actually I was down there today a bit, getting cleaned up and organized....
