Selling a 1988 Suburban that is just in amazing shape. all original, straight as can be.
had a couple come out to look at it yesterday and they are just excited that its so clean,
well as we are walking around showing them the rig ,
i open the tailgate, they like the fact that even the carpet on the tailgate is in perfect condition, i shut the tailgate and bam the window shatters. actually made me jump.
I was stunned
Not a good selling point, but they still bought it.

I think GM should have offered only barn doors on Burbs,myself..tailgates are just a pain, window problems, they rot ,etc..

Lol that sucks. I sold a truck that decided to get death wobble on the test drive. I feel for you lol

Might as well break them in right, buying an old truck is a lesson in repair and upkeep. It will give them an excuse to lube the window parts as the new one goes in. Glad you were able to complete the sale!

I was just wondering the other day in all the models up until 1999 did they have barn doors on the Burbs? I've been thinking about looking for a 3/4 4x4 from the late 90's and I just can not recall if I ever saw any with barn doors.

I've seen Suburbans with barn doors in the 1991-1997 era,and some later ones also...probably fewer 3/4 ton 4x4 ones sold compared to 1/2 tons ..

You know now that I think of it barn doors might have been more common, or perhaps the only options on the ones from the 90's because now that I really sit and think I never recall seeing one with a fold down door. Maybe just the OBS blazers had tailgates???

I was just thinking how much more I like the tailgate as I put a couple 20 ft boards in the burb and out the back window.
