this just started this morning, I turn the steering wheel to the left about 45* and i feel/hear a popping noise that I can feel under the seat and in the floorboard...any ideas? oh yeah its a 75 k5

mine's been doing it for years. I think I saw someone on here say it is the pro comp lift springs I have.

Mine does that and it is actually the spring pack sliding on itself. I had some one turn the wheel while I looked and one of the leaves would pop out of alignment and make that noise. You feel it in the floorboard area because that is where the rear hanger mounts to the frame.

I think I need to take my front end apart and check my spring pack pins.

Also make sure your steering box bolts are tight that can make a popping noise also.

I've got a similar noise and I've isolated it. It's the ball joint on front drag link section...where it attaches.

Check around your steering box for cracks in the frame.

Check all bolts.

Jack up the front end and stick a pry-bar through the rim and move up and down to see if your ball joints or wheel bearings are bad.

It could also be the front knuckle u-joint. Make sure it doesn't have any looseness in it.

Mine made a popping noise from the right on right turns, and I could feel it through the body. The body mount behind the right front fender was loose.

i had that popping in my truck also im pretty sure it is the steering box/frame. The point at wich the steering box connects to the frame tends to get tweeked out or crack after years of stress, and that popping you hear/feel is most likely the frame moving just enough to pop.

my '94 c1500 is doing that right now. i think my whole steering linkage is wearing out, but primarily the left outer tie-rod. i realize the setup on our k5s isn't quite the same.
