Can someone explain to me why a 2 outlet fuel sending unit is over 100!,while a three port is half the price! Didnt they make millions of these trucks and dont they still need parts? I refuse to spend that on a simple fuel sending unit! rant off :dunno:

electric pump or just pickup?

Just get a 3 port. You must not have a return, big deal, cap off the unused port.

I thought this too and will probably do it except the wiring is differant. It does have a return hence the 2 ports. Perhaps the 3 are for emissions?

i have a 1980, carb'd with cali emissions and dual tanks. each tank has a 3port sending unit. One goes to fuel pump (large), one goes to fuel pump vent (small, capped off due to running electric pump) and one goes to charcoal canister (medium).

why are you capping off the vented port? My TBI sending unit came with 3 already, seems it still needs that vent unless I'm missing something. Dunno

My truck has a carburetor and the mechanical fuel pump was replaced with an external electric. The mech. fuel pump had three ports; inlet, outlet, and vent, the vent line wasn't necessary anymore.
