Nope never had them back off before. Does the inner nut have the little pin? I have seen them shear off.

What did you tighten the outer nut to? What style lock ring do you have between the nuts?

Doesn't seem worth it since sold individually for $57smackers. How long is soon on the d60 on the other hand?

I've broken that pin before so I imagine that's what happened this time too... I just replaced the two spindle nuts and holie washer on the passenger side (like $45) and it still feels perfect so I guess I just need to replace the driver's side too...
I tightened the inner nut then backed it off a 1/4 turn then tightened it up while spinning the rotor... I basically moved back and forth ever-so-slightly so that there was no play in the hub but the rotor still spun free...
Then I put the holie washer on... then put the outer spindle nut on and torqued it down to 50ft./lbs....

The D60 will be going in once I finish putting the k10 on a diet (ditching a lot of the sheet-metal in the next few months)...

Here's the correct way to set the spindle bearing preload & the torque specs.

I bought them but my axle is not together yet. Its a great product IMHO. Go to there web site and read up on the product. I had herd of them before I bought them. They were at the OFFROAD EXPO off road show. The demo was awesome and pretty much sold me on them right then and there. As a machinist I asked all the questions as far as type of material, heat treating, I cretiqued the funtionallity of it, how it assembled, how it worked. I was very impressed to say the least. And Im a skeptical kinda guy. I got the show special price of 100 bucks for a pair.

Also do a search, its been discused before, you might find some good feedback on it.

Never had a problem on any SFA truck. Outer torque spec is ~160 for a 10b/44 and ~200 for a D60. You sure you torqued it down correctly?

I won't deny it's a nice product, but is it really needed? I've never had a problem with the spindle nuts backing off on either my 10-bolt or D60 and I've had both apart twenty times or more over the years checking and repacking the bearings (too much mud and water here in the mideast!). And I've never personally seen or heard anybody with the problem.

Of course, this is assuming they are installed correctly and the locking pins/washers/etc... are there. Heck, on my 60 I usually alway knock the outer nut off with the impact because it's so tight it's hard to loosen with the breaker without the socket slipping off.

I think they are a good investment for saving expensive bearings and a very expensive spindle. I have over $1400 into my D60 already...another $100 is not a big deal for what peace of mind you get.

That being said I will be putting my set on when I rebuild my kingpins in the next week or so.

Another purdy truck getting torn apart...

Don't worry... it'll still be purdy when I'm done.... but more functional :D

Aparently not after reading the thread posted above... I'll pull it apart sometime this weekend, check stuff out then re-torque stuff the way that thread said...

I have them, just got them.
I had one get loose once when I was dding it quite scary. I had a spindle stretch on me from heavy torqueing and it being an origingal piece.
I like the piece of mind and I have to much other coin in my front. Plus they will fit dana 44's to so when and if I get a 60 or portals I can sell them to my heep buddies.
