X-locks?

I put them on my truck. I think they are worth the money for the cost of replacing a spindle and bearings. Of course I have not put them to the test yet, but I really like the design and ease of setting up and tearing down.

I say get em! :thumb:

I will probably be ordering a set for my 14 bolt also just so all hubs are the same setup.

Oh they might be a touch cheaper here... http://broncograveyard.com
Looks like shipping might be less.

it'll be free shipping as it'll be in with an order over $500.... sold... thanks....

AFAIK the 14 bolt has same spindle threads as a D60...

At least any research I have done says so... Have not actually checked this out to be fact just yet.

Okay, so break it down for me short bus style. What advantage do these have other than not having the factory setup's ability to loosen up?

Well if they fail on the drivers side it loosens up. On the passenger side it sucks the outer bearing in, explodes, grenades, shreds your spindle, ****s your hub, and pisses you off like no other. I say its worth the money.

Ahhhhh...gotcha.

I hated rebuilding the front of mine in '09 and hate packing bearings. Turned out I needed new OEM parts for this and never had time to pick up some of these. However I never fully understood what their upgrade was. Kinda wish I had gotten these now.

The patented Stage 8 Locking Spindle Nut is comprised of 5 parts; a thrust washer, a specialized notched washer, the spindle nut (which can be set to an individual pre-load value), a locking retainer and a heavy spring steel snap ring. The Locking Spindle Nut assembly is easily installed without any specialized tools and spindle nut itself can be locked within ½ degree of any position so you will never have to over or under torque and will maintain the required bearing preload value. This extremely tough innovation withstands severe reverse torque, a real plus when you’re 25 miles away from civilization.

one of the problems with the stock system is the two spindle nuts tightening against each other to get the tab washers just right to fold over to lock everything in place....

with the stage 8, there is only one main spindle nut,,,you set your preload...and you are within 1/2 degree either way of getting the lock washer in place...then the snap ring locks everything in place.

It's not really any "better" than the stock system....It's just a simpler cleaner way that seems much more secure....there are many "fail points along the way of the old style stock system... X-locks eliminates a few of these fail points..

yup, i consider it a minor upgrade cost as I would have needed the stock replacements anyway...

The 60 stage 8 lock nuts won't work on a 14B. Already tried and they are to large to fit in the hub if I remember correctly.
