Well I got in my new parts from LMC today to fix the rust areas in the cab area of my 75 Blazer.

Rockers, Inner Rockers, Foot wells, and another thing Called inner Rocker also??. I forgot to order floorboards (not sure why there smoked)

I need any tips or tricks to welding these panels in and maybe some photos if at all possible.

I was also thinking about maybe making my own floorboards shouldn't be too bad:dunno:. I am looking for Ideas on what to do here Ideas anyone??

Also ROCKER BOXES mine are pretty much gone so I need to find some sort of replacement I thought I heard of putting in a slider instead of a rocker box?? What are you guy doing to eliminate the rocker boxes.

Sorry about the ten thousand questions I'm just pumped that Finally I'm going to do something with my blazer.

All i can say is measure a million times and make cardboard templets. i would use 3x2 tube to make the rockerboxes/sliders 1/4" should be good. I wish i wouldve done mine that way. i just replaced them and now all i do is smash them on rocks! Making floor pans is simple just cutout what is bad. dont skimp on that part remove all rot. then make some cardboard templets you want the panels to overlap 1/4 to 1/2" so that you can get a good weld. also dont for get to seam seal everything so you dont get water trapped in between. then coat with good undercoating or bed liner or paint.

What thickness material would you use for floorboards? Also would you just line your seats up and bolt them to the floor boards. What all would you connect with the slider, I looked at my rocker bozes and have a hard time seeing what I would do to replace them. I just need a little inpsiration to get me started.

Also what would you use for seam sealer and I plan on putting down some bed linerfor the floors and such

Seam sealer is just what it is called go to a parts store and asked for some it comes in tubes for a caulk gun. use it on the underside before you paint/liner. as for flooring i would use 16ga at min. 18ga seems to light.

What kind of order would you do the repairs in I mean what things to weld in first to keep things fitting square and such. Also should I put a jack under the cab to kind of keep everything pushed up and the doors closing smoothly.

Also does anyone have any pictures of some home fab floorboards.

Also how do LMC Floorboards fit good/ bad ??? Opinions PLEASE

I would def start by replacing your rockers first. after you have them in you can pretty much hack the floors out and not worry bout anything shifting or moving. as far a bolting your seats back in i set mine bout the middle adjustment and then set them in and sat in them and found a comfortable spot and then drilled holes and bolted them in. you can always tack the nuts to the floor if you want. def want to people to do this.

Thanks Alright I know this is a little off topic but what kind of welder should I buy been looking at a hobart
please keep in mind
Cost especially cost
portability
and theres no 220 in my garage

not saying I want to buy a cheap tool but ive looked at the harbor freight garbage looked at the Clarke's at Menard seem like there built alright but I read some reviews on them and they dont seem real good. But for a little bit more there was a Hobart Handler for 299 $. Anybody have any experience with these machines. Yeah I know miller and lincolns are great but im about a grand shy for a good quality welder.

Considered adding 220? Not terribly difficult if you're handy with electrical stuff or have friends/relatives that are.

Nice investment for the future. My garage had NO electricity at all when I bought my house...and it's detached and 30' from the house...with a concrete pad in between. My dad, mom, and uncle came up and within a day they had electricity to the garage and a day later mom, dad, and I had 220 and 110 all over it. It's now fully lighted with 110 outlets ever 6' or so and two 220 outlets. One for my 60 gal compressor and another for the welder...that I don't know how to use...

...anyways, consider upgrading your place as part of this process.

Really dont want to do a ton of work on this garage because I doubt that I will be staying here Ma and Pa with the divorce and all probally wont be here for all too long. I just hate to do the work for someone else. But if I was staying I would be running 220 for a compressor and a outlet or two for welders and such as well as epoxy flooring . So somthing that I can make do with for now I think is a better deision.

Gotcha, can understand in that situation.

the lil hobart handler should work ok. for heavier steel you should make multiple passes/welds is that just a flux core or can you add a bottle? either way it will work for now. i have a miller 230v welder that i love but i need it for heavier steel. i used it to make my bumpers and such too and when i get the money to make the cage that will be next on my list. but i understand not everyone has $850.00 to blow on a welder. my buddy does alot of body work on the side at his house and he has a lil 110v welder flux core that works just fine. have fun start welding!

Yeah you can buy a kit to use the bottle on the Hobart. I went down the the local welding shop and looked at the millers and talked to a few people. I am looking at the little millermatic welder I think its the 140 auto set or somthing like that its on sale for 650 or so I was thinking about that or the next larger welder I think the 180 I think its 675 or so. Any opinions on what to do I dont have a rediculous amount of money to spend on a welder. Because I just got laid off and denied for unemployment (what a sh**** week). Might have to postpone all blazer related doings until I find another source of income. I got enough money put away to get by (car payment, insurance payment, and next semesters tuitiom for school) but not by much.
