gonna make a steel run today, might as well pick up material for the trans x-member... no doubler... 700/205....

I'm assuming 2", 250 wall square is a common size... . is that WAY overkill?

I'd kinda like to go with something a tad smaller to keep things tight.... would 1 1/2", .250 wall be fine?

I just built my Anti-wrap crossmember with 2x2 .250 wall and its uber beefy stuff. I think 1.5" .250 wall or 2" 180 would suffice.

My current one is 1.5"x1.5"x3/16" and has bowed up from sliding over rocks. My new one for the Atlas is getting made from 1/4" to hold up better. I also bent the crap out of my skid which was also 3/16" so the new one will also be 1/4".

I used rectangular tubing for the x-member on my 2500.
That way you can make it both really beafy, and low-profile as well.
I think I used 40x80x5mm (~1.5"x3"x0.2")
(I think there's a crappy picture of it in my sig.)

1/4 wall is nice....... but it's not so fun if you have to hold something like this up to mount it on the trail during a fix.

after taking a peek at my bud's steel rack, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do the 2" .250 wall... possibly the .180
