I got some money to start getting parts to complete my X over steering. Question for the 2wd steering box what are good years that will work with my 85'? I am planning on switching out the parts and keeping my core.

Think it is like 81 or 82 and up are the right style boxes. The fittings changed in those years somewhere /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

i think you might have the o ring style hose in your 85 but you should check /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

how does that work? I have a 2 wheel box i was going to use as a core but if i can pull a part from it and keep the box i have that would be cool. oh yea no idea how to take a box apart or what a sector shaft looks like. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

So with this box i can get a 2wd box from 76-91 and change out the sector shaft and put it in my existing box?

hey 76 to 91 wont work, on the trucks witht eh new body style they changed to a different box, but it might still be the same on the sub, and blazers, but it isent witht the trucks sorry for all the spelling erros but im really tired

same year as the truck to avoid interchange hassles
somehow this is suposed to be easier then a ford

73-80 and 81-87,91 are all the same. never seen any different. the sector shaft will interchange between all of them.

73 to 80 no O-ring fittings
81 to 87, 91 O-ring fittings

But like he said, sector shafts are all the same for all years 73 to 87, 91 (2wd and 4wd are different of course)

Make sense /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

the pic is sorta confusing cause its looking straight down onto the top of the steering box. Most pics of them tend to be through the wheel well or from below.
