do i really need x-over steering or can i use a 2wd gear box and 4" drop pit arm ??????? my ride is 86' k-5 w\ 4" lift per 52" swap.

You will need crossover with 52's if you want to be able to steer when flexing. Plus the stock steering setup does not like moving the axle 2 inches further forward. And there is no way that I know of to use a 2wd box with a push-pull (4wd) steering linkage.

Yes, you pretty much have to run crossover with 52's.... you'll have no steering control when flexed

With the 52's up front and any wheeling the linkage acts as a limiting strap and there is a lot of force applied to those parts, on top of haveing no way to turn the huge beast.
