hey steve on the dana 44 knuckle that has to be machined. i heard that it wold be a mirror image of the otherside. if thats true i should be able to use the old steering arm for a templete to drill out the pass side knuckle?
But not only do you have to drill and tap the holes for bolts/studs, but the knuckle surface has to be milled flat for the new steering arm to sit correctly.
He's right, mill it flat, then drill and tap. You do have to set the location for the pattern. We have a couple of jigs that make all this easier since we do quite a few of them.
i just got a set of knuckle to do the crossover steering set up. and they need to be machined (meaning both the passenger and Driver side) can you do this? or should i find a local source to get this done? i will be purchasing your crossover set up for my 78 blazer.
The drivers side knuckle should be set to go if it is off a chevy. It should already have the holes and steering studs. The passenger side is the side that much be matchined, drilled, and tapped.
yeah, i was told that. however since it is off a 73 blazer i wanted to have them both freshened up so there is no issues. i have a 78 blazer and was not sure about this conversion. at least the how to and what is involved.
