I just dropped in my fresh rebuilt 350 in my truck, now I am concerned with making this engine run as reliable as it can, the p/o had duals coming straight from the exhaust manifold to a muffler then dumped. My question is will an X pipe help the engine run any easier/better/more effecient? I am not really looking for more performance, as I am running 39.5s on half tons, and am not planning the axle swaps for a while now, I just want a general opinon, thanks

I here they help balance the exaust pressure and make your engine run better. I wanted to try one but my driveline is in the way of making a true X pipe. I could probably do an H pipe though.

I just did that with my truck, First off-- I have a 6" Lift on my 79 K5...so, this may not be easy if your truck is too low.... I placed the "X" above the rear drive line, hooker mufflers are above the rear axle, and I got the pipes to get around the gas tank ok. I like the "evenness" of the sound. I didn't worry about performance, but that may have been a bonus!!. :wink1:

For any offroad truck a single exhaust makes the most sence. Run a sinmgle 3" and youll be set:wink1:

Like he said, single exhaust would be best if you plan on doing some wheeling. Especially mudding. And you can make a single exhaust setup sound almost as good as duals if you use the right combination of headers/mufflers/pipe.

I would love to go single, i'm just not sure how cost efective it is for me, i'm running stock exhaust manifolds, i suppose i could just rip one out of a junk yard truck, with stock exhaust (rare in east texas) and slap a new muff on it. thanks for the input.
