well im trying to get my xj shaft put in, but im having some trouble getting it apart so it can move freely. i looked through the tech article and i cant seem to find the plastic things to drill out?? i removed the rubber sleeve that was on the outside of the shaft, but it still wont move at all. we tried putting it in a press and using a punch and sledge and nothing happened? there must be something im missing?

im sure these pics wont do any good, but here are some of what im working with

hmm...i put the smaller part ina vice, and just beat on the other with a chisel and a ball pean. and mine came apart eventually...only problem was you then gotta sand donw the "lip" that you just created...

Mine was just like that and I just tapped it with a hammer and it compressed. Once it moved the first time it slid rather easily. Mine also did not have any plastic plugs that needed to be removed.

Sometimes they get gunk inside them that can freeze them up.

Hit that bitch like it owes you money, it will move.
