I'm not sure that I have the xtra frame cross member on the 78 K5. I have the tcase guard. Did the tcase guard mount to the xtra frame cross member?

yes, there are supposed to be two transfer cross cross members, and the guard mounted in between them. when i bought my truck it was missing the second cross member too.
Purely optional. Even the regular cabbed trucks ran them, too. This was the strongest setup for the t-case skidplates, IMO, since it added the crossmember.
I don't see on my skid plate holes to bolt up to another crossmember. It just has a drain hole.
