In order to get at the nut that screws onto spring eye bolt located on the frame spring hanger...there is a steel plate covering this nut, which is held on by 8-frame rivets that has to removed. I do not know about lighter duty frames, but this is how 1-Ton frames are designed.
I see, I haven't looked at mine in a while I just thought I remembered it looking like the shackle could be removed exposing the bushings. Right in tho I'll probably do these when I do my shackle flip

You uh certainly did that the hard way just stick a wrench through the top or the bottom.

you put a wrench down in from the top of the hanger outboard side to hold the nut .

if its frozen cut the head off . air hammer / heat the bolt and drive it in till it stops . cut off that . repeat till bolt out .

but for us rust belt guys no matter how you do it it can be a real P.I.T.A unless you got tricks and practice like i do .

here ya go pic of the top down showing nut . drop a wrench in there and bam your good to try it .

and this is a k30 frame . same on all the rest .

and a ball joint press with some specific size sockets and chunks of scrap tube can pop the old bushings out fairly easy .

Yeah, the last time I did some of those I cut a wrench shorter so it would fit in there and clear the floor above it.
