Being that I'm waiting on parts for my 77, and also waiting on the jingly stuff that some people carry in their pockets I figured I'd start a build thread for my crawler.
This one started life as a poor little 97 ram 1500 grampa truck. My friends girlfriend actually chose to buy a bare bones F150 for a couple grand more because of the simple fact that this truck was pathetic. I saw something in it that others didn't though. At the time (March 2003) I was shop foreman for a small very wealthy family owned business, and had free reign to basically do whatever I wanted to do in the shop. Dream job but it didn't pay worth a crap. Discounts on parts and tires made up for that, and the owners allowed me to pocket whatever I earned after hours. I was ok with that. So one day my friend and his GF brought this truck in to have me look at it to see if it was worth buying. It was flawless other than a couple scuffs in the paint. 63,000 grampa driven miles on it. She still didn't want it. I watched it sit on the lot for about a month longer before I went in for the kill... I had said friends brother with me not knowing how much of a benefit he would be. The 16k price tag was soon down just above 13k. within the first 3 days of owning this the muffler fell off and the tires expanded slightly. Shortly after that a hypertech programmer (did absolutely nothing other than eliminate my speed limiter) and a 187* thermostat. More to come... Enjoy these lame pics.

I scored a 96 3/4 ton dodge for $500 and spent a weekend doing an axle swap and then it was off to Moab!
After this embarrassing moment on rusty nail and then getting wedged in "no left turn" I decided it was time for some mods. 35's and almost 140" wheelbase weren't going to fulfil my desire to run the trails I wanted to in Moab. I was sick of running the trails that a stock Jeep Wrangler could run. I was going "all out" this time! 37's new bumpers and cut the bed behind the back tires. Pretty extreme eh. At the time this was pretty extreme for this rig. I did redeem myself on hells gate though.
More pics coming soon...
